100 Years of Leica
Rhodope Mt, Bulgaria, 2021 | Leica MP & Kodak Tri-X 400
The beginning of the 20th century witnessed several revolutions. Among them was a significant transformation in the world of photography. A little-known company from Germany made a bold move by developing the very first 35mm camera for serial production.
A hundred years later, we celebrate the birth of this iconic camera, which has captured a century full of unforgettable moments.
The picture I selected for this special blog post is from my very first roll of film, shot using the Leica MP.
What you see here is a group of local hunters who attempted to "fly" with an ancient Soviet UAZ minivan along a narrow, steep, and winding road deep in the heart of the Rhodope Mountains, Bulgaria.
After the initial adrenaline rush and shock subsided, we all laughed—a lot!
A Leica camera is more than a tool—it’s a companion in storytelling, enabling us to turn fleeting moments into timeless memories.
NOTE TO SELF: Photography isn’t just about pressing the shutter. It’s about being present, embracing spontaneity, and finding beauty even in chaos.
