Fubu Boys from Papua New Guinea

Last night, I had a dream.

I saw a picture I had taken many years ago while on a photography expedition to Papua New Guinea. At that time, I was trying to document the life of local tribes. During my journey, I went to the Goroka Sing-Sing festival, where 150+ tribes gathered together. As impressive as it was to see so many different tribes at once, on the second day of the festival, I saw little boys adorned like adult warriors. And this is the picture I saw in my sleep.

Upon awakening, the vivid memory of that photograph lingered, prompting me to revisit my archives. As I checked my old HDD, I discovered the entire series of pictures from my encounter with the Fubu boys, as they called themselves. It was a poignant reminder of the depth of human experiences. With a sense of excitement, I pulled up the contact sheet, eager to relive the moments frozen in time. Each image held a story, a glimpse into a world so different yet undeniably connected to my own. As I scrolled through the frames, I couldn't help but marvel at the intricate details and the raw emotions captured in each photograph. It was a testament to the power of photography to transcend boundaries and capture the essence of humanity.

As I reflect on the depth of human experience captured in these photographs, I'm reminded of the power of storytelling through imagery. Each frame holds a narrative waiting to be explored, a glimpse into worlds far beyond our own. If the images shared here have sparked your curiosity or ignited a sense of wonder, I invite you to delve deeper into the complete gallery of pictures from my journey among the tribes of Papua New Guinea.

Note to self: It is worth revisiting archived pictures and reliving cherished moments. Encourage yourself to do it more often, as the past holds valuable lessons and memories waiting to be rediscovered.
