Barafu Camp, Mt. Kilimanjaro
Today is the last day we have before we make the final push. Joseph (our guide) promised us only 5 hours of walking today because we need to preserve our strength for the next day.
Knowing we will have an easy-going day, Alex and I decide to spend quite a lot of time just chillaxing inside the tent. Once Martin approached us with the "hand washing", and "breakfast ready", we discover the neat table with the two chairs just in front of our tent. The view towards Mt. Kilimanjaro is amazing...
we stopped here...
and here...
Even we built our own tower. Early next year should figure out if the dream I wished will come true...
And this is the last flower in the mountain before the rocks and cold winds reign.
Edit 2022: Make sure before your mountain expedition to get in good shape. This will enable you to enjoy even such little things on your way up to the summit instead of fighting to survive.
Short before we get to Barafu camp (4600m), we stopped with Alex and like paparazzi start photographing the passing by porters.
Around 1 pm we were already at Barafu Camp 4600m. It's time for a long relax. All kinds of thoughts both of us have in our heads...but mostly we concentrate on the last challenge we are about to face.
The dinner we have is strong: lots of meat, fresh fruits, and hot soup. Regardless that most of the porters don't speak much English, they came to us and give us their "choco bars"...everybody is doing his best to motivate us. It is going to be an extremely difficult night...our final summit attempt will start right after midnight at 1 am. The expected outside temperature should be -7°C and we have to survive for 10 to 13 hours out there...
Just to remind us we are the mercey of the mountain, right after dinner we witness a mountain storm...but what surprises Mt. Kilimanjaro has for us...very soon we are about to find out.
